This year, spa-inspired luxury is completely taking over the bathroom -- relaxing atmospheres and spacious designs are edging their way into even the smallest of bathrooms. Last year these gorgeous bathrooms were everywhere on Pinterest in light, neutral colors. This year, it's time to get the paint out! Here are some of my favorite spa-inspired bathrooms that use trendy bold color to expand their space.
Darker or brighter hues can freshen up a space while still conveying a relaxing and calming ambience. This is especially true if you have a small bathroom that does not receive any natural light. The darker red and purple and vivid pink walls in these bathrooms from Delta Faucet, above, and Kohler and Benjamin Moore, below, show that bold colors can be surprising but still calming and luxurious.
In smaller bathrooms, it's important to balance bright color with neutral tones so the color doesn't become overwhelming. Think of darker walls with lighter wall panels or floors and cabinets, like these bathrooms below from Moen and Behr. They strategically place bold color to draw your eye throughout the bathroom. This technique adds dimension and sophistication while psychologically creating a bigger bathroom.
